Adventures at Round Top

Well, another trip to Round Top has come and gone. It is always so amazing to see the “new” trends in antiquing and we were excited about our finds this time. What we were not excited about was the heat!! It was 105 the first 2 days that we were there – and had it not been for a rain storm at 2pm on Thursday, I don’t know if we would have survived!!! But we did and the weather broke and made for a great last day there.  Wanted to share with you all some of our finds -

We loved this picture frame display – might have to take this idea into the store…

Love this old prescription label organizer – wanted to take it home!!

We have seen these in the past with shells, but never with scales.  The display was amazing!

This is such a fun way to pick out china – pick your cup, saucer and plate!

Remember the Banana from last time? His new display is a whale, complete with blow hole!

We spotted purple glass at the last market but this time it was EVERYWHERE.

These antiqued metal boxes made such a gorgeous display – and we love all the vintage fonts!

Now off to make all this inspiration be a part of our January Market new product!

F is for…..

Well, another Friday is here and so we have another letter!! This week is F and I have to say, we went back and forth on this one. Frames? Florals? Fragrances? Flowers?  And the big winner????

F is for Vintage French Labels

We could not get over these amazing packaging and labeling designs. When we had our last inspiration board, some of these were right on the top! We love everything about them: the color combinations, the fonts, the layouts, the motifs. It reminds me of time spent in Paris and combing the wine shops for the most amazing bottles of Bordeaux.  Magnifique!

Southern Hospitality in ATL

We are always so happy to spend time in Atlanta and are lucky enough to do it 2 times a year for the Market Season. Of course, the weather is always blistering but this year we had a storm roll on through and were actually able to eat outside twice!! That is unheard of this time of year!  Some great images from the booth – what an amazing show!! Thanks to everyone at Darrah for all their hard work!

Customers loved the new metallics collection – these were our top selling color combination. The beauty is that the fragrances are year round so even though they look a lot like christmas bulbs, they are everyday!

Everyone LOVED the new labels and packaging for the Traviata collection. Aren’t all the colors just gorgeous together??

How can we not include the Pineapple Pinecones? A seasonal favorite and perfectly displayed in the front window!

And of course, the Capri Blue Collection. People were lining up for the mercury found glass piece and they LOVED the new fragrances: Mandarin Tuberose and Pomegranate Citrus.  Place your orders soon!!

Well, off to the next show. Let’s see, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago…….New York…….stop and see us!

Inspiration in your ABCs

If you follow us on Facebook, you have seen the Friday letter of the day. We started this as a fun way for us to show what inspires us on a weekly basis.  We keep our inspiration boards full here at the office so it is fun to share with you all what we are loving at that moment. While we had great hopes to keep up to date with the blog and facebook, let’s be totally honest – Dallas Market got the best of us and we are just catching our breath before heading into Atlanta Market. We always forget how crazy the summer show season is! Here is the first 4 weeks (A-D) of our Letters of the Day. Enjoy!

A is for Apothecary

We are absolutely in love with this trend. Everything about it – the shape of the glass, the vintage labels, the colors, everything.

Love this antique french periodic table- can’t you just see it in a Parisian Market?

We saw there in Round Top, Texas at the Antique Market in March – you will see a running trend of great ideas that we get at that amazing market!

B is for Block Print

If you have a love for the art of print, you cannot get enough of this method. For us, it is the purest form of print.

Love, love, love this Block Print drawers!

C is for Copper

We are in love with this amazing metallic finish. Of course, we fell in love with this jar at Round Top (see the trend??).

D is for door knobs

People are always taking photos of doors – but what about the forgotten door knob? We live in older homes and always appreciate the vintage crystal knobs (not as much about the small closets!!)

Sure you can see the mileage on the wood, but just stop and imagine how many times that knob has turned to open or close. Just amazing.

E is for Etsy

This was a pretty easy one. We would be LOST without the amazing selection from Etsy. No design project or inspiration ends without hours upon hours gazing over the site. Just an enormous amount of talent right there at your fingertips.

Well, now we are all caught up!! Heading to Atlanta for the Summer Market so look for a posting coming soon with our adventures! Oh, and of course, our letter of the week on Friday: F. See you soon!

Hot, Hot, Hot at Dallas Market

OK, if you have ever been to Dallas between the months of May and September you know that it is crazy hot. Insane.  Center of the Earth HOT. Well, this year was no different, so after sweating like crazy to make it to the showroom from the parking lot, the air conditioning was on FULL BLAST.  Just seems funny to be in jeans when it is 102 outside!

Anyway, we had a GREAT show and were so excited about our new showroom: Ivystone. The reps were amazing and so excited about having us in the Ivystone family. And we could not have been more impressed. Best summer show in Dallas EVER!! Love to be able to say that! Thought we would pass along some fun pics of all the new products!!

Don’t you just love the Seasons? Makes you want it to be November already! We added a gorgeous new fragrance in the white frost: Orange Clove – people loved it! And the new smaller tins are the perfect holiday gift pick up for everyone.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! We did a little update to these and people could not get enough of them. They look holiday but we chose to do everyday fragrances in them so that they are year round. They look very holiday but you don’t have to put them away in January!

How amazing is the new packaging? We are just obsessed with the labels – and they are the perfect fit for the Italian theme. The metallic ink just glows on the colored glass. If you get a chance, try the new fragrance Arancia – a blend of Sicilian oranges, clove and cinnamon.

And finally……..

We had so many requests from customers for Mercury Glass and we were excited to unveil it just in time for the holiday season. These 8oz Mercury Found Glass tumblers are amazing and just illuminate beautifully. All our customers went WILD for them!

If you are going to be in Atlanta, swing by and see us at Darrah and Company in Building 2, #1818. Promise to be more on top of the updates – it has been a busy month!!
