Spring Trends at Saks

On our most recent market trip to New York, I could not possibly leave the city before stopping in Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks does an incredible job with every aspect of their retail stores. Shopping there is a rarity for me, so I try to take advantage of it every chance I get. I also enjoy walking through for inspiration. I am always ready to try something new after a trip to Saks, whether it be a new haircut, experimenting with colors I do not usually wear, or purchasing an accessory I have been eyeing for a while.

On the contemporary floor, I was greeted by a gorgeous display of spring dresses, blazers, and cropped pants in a color palette of corals and oranges. It was so breathtaking, I felt the need to share. After walking through my favorite floor, the new spring trends were very obvious. One of my favorites for the season is varying shades of the same color. Try a pastel shade of skinny crops with a bright top. Stack a layer of bangles with a pop of color in a cocktail ring. Pair that with some nude flats or pumps, and you will have a fresh spring look!

Tip of the day: Combine varying shades of the same color for a trendy spring look.

Falling in Love with…….Boots

With the weather changing and fall officially here, we had to post some of our favorites for the upcoming months. Can always keep these in mind for holiday gifts too (hint, hint!!). These are our top 5 favorites – for each and every event.

How absolutely perfect is this pair of UGG boots for those chilly football games. As the weather cools off, the sports events take on a whole new wardrobe and these would be fabulous with skinny jeans or leggings. Available in brown, black and camel (our fav) and of course, the knit is removable! Fur also available, but the cable knit is so chic.

This bootie by Tory Burch is the go to item for those skirts and dresses. And we love that it is cognac and black so that you can use it with both colors.  Great hardware!

This is a fabulous suede bootie from Sam Edelman (Ria). Also available in leopard print (little wild for us!). I know, with heels like this, how can it be comfortable. We are not promising anything like that. However, there are times where it is better to look good then feel good and this is the perfect shoe for that. Great with just about anything and makes a perfect replacement for tall boots under jeans.

This is our favorite flat boot under $100. It has been around forever and there is a reason for it. Great deal for the price and makes it easy to wear constantly and get a new pair next year! Also available in black.

Adventures at Round Top

Well, another trip to Round Top has come and gone. It is always so amazing to see the “new” trends in antiquing and we were excited about our finds this time. What we were not excited about was the heat!! It was 105 the first 2 days that we were there – and had it not been for a rain storm at 2pm on Thursday, I don’t know if we would have survived!!! But we did and the weather broke and made for a great last day there.  Wanted to share with you all some of our finds -

Love this old prescription label organizer – wanted to take it home!!

We have seen these in the past with shells, but never with scales.  The display was amazing!

This is such a fun way to pick out china – pick your cup, saucer and plate!

Remember the Banana from last time? His new display is a whale, complete with blow hole!

 

We spotted purple glass at the last market but this time it was EVERYWHERE.

These antiqued metal boxes made such a gorgeous display – and we love all the vintage fonts!

Now off to make all this inspiration be a part of our January Market new product!

 

Survived Market!!

OK, we have been a little absent but it has been a crazy market season!! So glad to have survived the summer shows, and what a group of shows!! Our BEST season yet! We were excited about our new showroom in Dallas – Ivystone. We were so impressed with the new reps and their enthusiasm.  Atlanta had an incredible turn out and the Darrah showroom impressed us with another season of record sales!  Wanted to add some pictures of our adventures over the last couple months:

Well, another Friday is here and so we have another letter!! This week is F and I have to say, we went back and forth on this one. Frames? Florals? Fragrances? Flowers?  And the big winner????

F is for Vintage French Labels

We could not get over these amazing packaging and labeling designs. When we had our last inspiration board, some of these were right on the top! We love everything about them: the color combinations, the fonts, the layouts, the motifs. It reminds me of time spent in Paris and combing the wine shops for the most amazing bottles of Bordeaux.  Magnifique!
